Extensive excavation has been carried out across the site, forming the trenches and levels required for the new structure while working carefully around the surrounding historic buildings and retained stonework.
Reinforcement cages have been positioned within the excavations before concrete is poured to create the new reinforced foundations and ground beams. Although much of this work will ultimately be hidden, it is a vital stage in creating a strong and stable base for everything that follows.

New structural steel sections are also being installed around the site, strengthening retained areas and helping support the considerable changes in level as the footprint of the new venue begins to take shape.
With the groundwork progressing and the first permanent elements now in place, the project is moving into an important new phase. Stay tuned as the structure begins to rise and this remarkable new venue continues towards completion in 2027.
