The steel framework for the new single-storey extension is now in place, marking the connection point between the original Cotswold stone home and the contemporary addition. It’s always fascinating to see the moment old and new meet, with a carefully carved opening blending centuries-old masonry with crisp new structure.
At the property’s entrance, the original gateposts are being removed to make way for a striking new arrival experience, setting the tone before you even reach the front door. The annex brickwork is looking superb, and inside this fully refurbished space the kitchen is already being fitted, ready to bring function and style in equal measure.

Meanwhile in the main house, bathrooms are being installed, skylights are now in place to flood the interiors with light, and a new boiler system has been fitted to future-proof the home’s comfort. It’s already shaping up to be another classic Clarke Construction success.
Barleybrook Retreat is about balancing heritage and modernity. Stay tuned for more as this project developes.
