From Heritage to Habitation

This unique project transformed a Grade II listed former commercial greenhouse, originally never intended as a habitable space, into an extraordinary luxury living area seamlessly integrated with the main residence. At the heart of the project lies a bespoke glass structure, thoughtfully designed and meticulously constructed to connect the original house with the newly habitable greenhouse. Our skilled joinery team painstakingly recreated windows and crafted a bespoke front door, preserving the heritage character while ensuring modern functionality.

Original windows and rooflights, many of which were significantly deteriorated or missing components, were expertly removed, refurbished, and carefully reinstated to comply fully with conservation requirements. Authentic replacement parts were diligently sourced, ensuring historical accuracy and continuity.

Crafted Elegance and Authenticity

The conversion highlights our commitment to authentic materials and meticulous craftsmanship. The striking floor within the greenhouse was sourced from a reclaimed community hall in Wales, thoughtfully selected to meet our client’s exacting standards and to harmonize with the building’s heritage aesthetic.

Our own joinery workshop produced a robust oak framework, discreetly reinforced with hidden steel elements, to structurally support and enhance the existing architecture without compromising its historic charm. In a clever act of craftsmanship, brick slips were meticulously created to frame the front entrance, seamlessly matching the original brickwork and preserving visual authenticity.

Beyond the beautifully converted interiors, the project also encompassed comprehensive landscaping and outdoor enhancements. We constructed stone steps leading gracefully to the glass link, complemented by expansive patios and a thoughtfully designed driveway, creating a cohesive flow from indoor elegance to outdoor tranquility.

A matching carport, carefully styled to echo the greenhouse’s distinctive architectural features, completes the harmonious integration of functional luxury and historic preservation.
