A comprehensive renovation of a Grade II listed Cotswold cottage, blending period charm with contemporary refinement across three stunning floors.

A Cottage Reborn

The Cottage is a striking example of how heritage restoration and thoughtful design can completely reimagine a traditional building. This Grade II listed, three-storey property underwent a meticulous renovation to create a sophisticated yet sympathetic retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds. Works included the full restoration of the Cotswold stone roof, replacement of aged cast iron guttering, and the careful removal and reinstatement of metal casement windows.

Every element of the building’s exterior was given new life—from repointed stonework using traditional lime mortar to rebuilt stone walls and re-laid patios with new drainage. The front garden was fully landscaped, and a Cotswold stone path re-gravelled, drawing visitors to a truly special home that celebrates its heritage while delivering 21st-century comfort.

This is heritage living at its most refined—carefully restored, beautifully detailed, and thoughtfully enhanced for modern life.

Interiors with Character and Light

Inside The Cottage, traditional elements were preserved and enhanced while new additions were seamlessly introduced. The kitchen was completely remodelled and fitted with a bespoke handmade Shaker-style kitchen by our in-house joinery, complete with granite worktops, mood lighting, and restored limestone floors. A glazed internal partition adds gentle separation from the TV snug, while new casement doors open the space directly to the gardens beyond.

Living areas were elevated through considered decoration, restored fireplaces, refurbished original doors, and installation of new sisal carpets. A traditional log burner was refurbished and reinstated as the centrepiece of a cosy snug, while all internal joinery, including a new utility worktop and cabinetry throughout, was designed and fabricated by our skilled team.

Clarke Construction Group exceeded expectations on every level. Their team delivered a complex, multi-phase renovation of our listed cottage with precision and care. Excellent workmanship, great communication, and delivered on time. I've since used them for several more projects.

Space and Serenity in the Eaves

The attic levels were transformed into luxurious, light-filled bedrooms and bathrooms. Original beams were cleaned and painted, recessed lighting and central heating were installed, and the entire floor was redecorated to the client's palette. Floors were repaired, painted, and sealed; bespoke cabinetry was refurbished; and bathrooms were redesigned with handmade panelling and carefully selected period fixtures.

A traditional rooflight was also installed to respect the Grade II listing while drawing natural light into the upper spaces—proving that even the quietest corners of The Cottage received the same care and attention as the main living spaces.
