One of the major undertakings has been reinforcing the existing roof structure, which needed to be carefully supported without damaging the original timbers. As seen in the photos, the aged beams now have new life as part of the roof, paired with modern insulation to bring the space up to current living standards. While this crucial work will be hidden behind plaster and finishes in the final product, it forms the backbone of the home’s lasting quality.
Another behind-the-scenes challenge has been threading new pipework throughout the structure, while ensuring that the stonework remains undisturbed.
